South Allegheny High School Band

About the Band

The South Allegheny High School Band is one of the largest, most active, prominent, and respected organizations in our school, participating in many local activities including community parades and concerts. The Band is noted as an organization that has achieved excellence and credit for its students, school, and community. Few, if any, student activities are as richly rewarding as instrumental music in terms of fellowship, healthful recreation, and the personal gratification that comes from the performing of good music.

Each year we perform at several non-competitive band festivals, and for many years we have hosted our own band festival, traditionally on the weekend after Labor Day.

We have also performed at Pittsburgh Steelers and Pittsburgh Pirates games, in addition to many Pittsburgh parades and Washington & Jefferson college football games.

In November 2009, we traveled to Walt Disney World Resort in Lake Buena Vista, Florida to participate in the "Celebrate a Dream Come True" parade in the Magic Kingdom amusement park. This is a biennial trip, and we expect to perform there again in November 2011.
