A Message from Mr. Riffle
Dear Parents and Students:
The South Allegheny Senior High Band is one of the largest, most active, prominent, and respected organizations in our school. The South Allegheny Band is noted as an organization that has achieved excellence and credit for its students, school, and community. Few, if any, student activities are as richly rewarding as instrumental music in terms of fellowship, healthful recreation, and the personal gratification which comes from the performing of good music. The memories of the South Allegheny Band will perhaps be among the most cherished memories of the student’s school career.
In band, as in most activities in life, a person "gets out of it" what he or she puts into the activity. Maximum enjoyment and personal satisfaction come as the result of putting forth one’s best efforts through self-discipline, a positive attitude in class, and regular practice on the music/assignments at home.
It is with great pleasure and enthusiasm as we prepare for the next school year, that I welcome each new member and their parent(s) into the South Allegheny Band. It is the purpose of this band program to provide educational, enjoyable, and wholesome experiences for its members. It is the purpose of this handbook to answer those questions most frequently asked by students and parents. Please keep the handbook as a ready reference source. And please feel free to contact me anytime if you have any concerns or questions.
