First Year Basic Camp
The purpose of First Year Basic Camp is to help the new band student's transition to the marching aspect of the band.
Marching skills and basic band concepts are learned in a casual manner meant to reduce the stress of Band Camp.
Mr. Riffle and a few upper class band members are there to help new students prepare for the upcoming summer parades and marching season.
Basic Camp is held at the High School for 3 mornings the week after school is dismissed for the summer.
This year's Basic Camp is:
- Tuesday, June 9th
- Wednesday, June 10th
- Thursday, June 11th
The daily schedule is 9:00 A.M. to Noon each day.
Students will also be fitted for their band uniform this week. Uniform fittings will occur on Wednesday evening, June 10th starting at 6:30 P.M. High School Band Parents will help size and fit the new band students with their uniforms. Students will schedule fitting appointment times when they report to the morning sessions on Tuesday and Wednesday. Signed uniform contracts and uniform deposit money ($15.00) will be turned at the time of fitting.
Students are not required to attend this Basic Camp, but it is highly recommended. We have found that these few hours of instruction greatly ease a new bend member into the High School Band program. Students finish these three days with confidence and pride in their newly acquired skills.
